Playground Portfolio

Collaborative, creative landscape solutions

Garland Alliance provides an extensive level of options for the Playground experience of children ranging from pre-school to middle school, as well as children with challenges.

Our goal is to develop your child's love of the natural world, your child's ability to work independently and cooperatively, and general physical large and small motor skill development.

Our experience has ranged from artificial built environments in a tough urban area to a very native natural built environment at a nationally recognized nature center. Our designs evolve out of the children's needs first, and connect them to the school needs and the needs of the site. The result is a unique expression of design and utilitarian function. We will work anywhere in the United States and beyond.

Our portfolio is currently in development. More coming soon.

Design and managed installation of this urban playground for challenged children in the inner city. Extensive use of synthetic turf and rubber trail system for durability and ease of maintenance which was a priority for this non-profit facility. Integrated natural plantings on the periphery to soften and more importantly allow children to be in touch with nature. Water station installed, along with small donated cabin. ADA accessible was other key design objective.

Designed and managed construction of this natural and site specific native plant community playground. Worked with staff and Naturalist to design playground for environmental awareness as well as play area. Site-specific native species were selected and approved by staff, and water features, gopher tunnel, outcropping stone, and tree fort were created and installed. The design was to have plants evolve as they mature and several areas are undergoing constant replanting for children's education. Native meadow grasses create a natural lawn area for the children and staff. All on site storm water runoff is contained.
